Florida’s venue map is more spread out than team names suggest
A team name does not always tell you where game day happens. The Miami Dolphins play in Miami Gardens, the Florida Panthers play in Sunrise, and the Tampa Bay Rays play across the bay in St. Petersburg. For visitors, that can matter more than the logo on the ticket.
The practical lesson is simple: plan around the venue, not just the city in the team name. South Florida and Tampa Bay are large, traffic-heavy regions, and crossing them at the wrong time can turn a straightforward game into a long drive.
South Florida
Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens is home to the Miami Dolphins and also hosts major college football, international soccer and large events. It sits north of central Miami, so visitors staying in Miami Beach or downtown should build travel time into the plan.
Kaseya Center is the Miami Heat’s downtown waterfront home, making it one of the easiest Florida venues to combine with a central-city visit.
loanDepot park is the Miami Marlins’ retractable-roof ballpark in Little Havana. The roof matters in a climate where heat and thunderstorms are part of summer planning.
Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise is home to the Florida Panthers. Despite the team name, it is a Broward County venue rather than a Miami arena.
Nu Stadium at Miami Freedom Park became Inter Miami’s home in 2026. The club describes the 26,700-seat stadium as part of the Miami Freedom Park district near Miami International Airport.
Tampa Bay and Central Florida
Raymond James Stadium is home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and, through the 2026 season, USF football. USF is scheduled to move into its new on-campus stadium in 2027.
Benchmark International Arena in downtown Tampa is home to the Lightning, while Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg is again home to the Rays in 2026 after storm repairs.
Kia Center hosts the Orlando Magic in downtown Orlando, and Inter&Co Stadium is Orlando City’s soccer home nearby. UCF football plays at Acrisure Bounce House on the university campus east of downtown.
North Florida and college landmarks
EverBank Stadium is the Jacksonville Jaguars’ home and also hosts the annual Florida–Georgia college football game. Gainesville’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Tallahassee’s Doak Campbell Stadium and Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium for Miami Hurricanes football are central landmarks in the state’s college game.
If you are planning a multi-game trip, Florida’s scale matters. Miami to Tampa, Tampa to Jacksonville and Orlando to South Florida are not casual cross-town hops. Pick a region first, then build the sports schedule around it.
